The Mataró Tennis Club, situated in a quiet corner of the city and with a sweeping view of the Mediterranean Sea, specialises in training young tennis players of all ages and abilities—from players with little experience to players with ATP circuit potential (with several former and actual students now ATP ranked). Instruction is of the highest quality with experienced and caring professionals. Their objective being to develop the full potential of each player, no matter his/her level, and at the same time impart lessons that promote sportsmanship and the all-around well being of each player.
Located less than 30 minutes from Barcelona, the Mediterranean city of Mataró dates back some 2,000 years, originally being the site of the Roman village Iluro. Today it is a vibrant place with a nearly ideal climate, boasting top name shops, outdoor markets, cafés, quality restaurants, a large indoor mall and cinema complex, two universities, parks, and a large and modern hospital. BAI Languages and Mataró Tennis Club offer students the unique opportunity to play tennis and live in the city’s relaxed and friendly atmosphere, and furthermore, take advantage of the hospitality and knowledge of their host families, enjoy the town’s long and spacious beach, and have the ease and comfort of living in a manageable and amicable small-sized city.
BAI Languages and the Mataró Tennis Club welcome players from ages 13-17 with various abilities but with at least two years of regular tennis playing experience. Tennis classes will be held four days a week, Monday, Tuesday; Thursday, and Friday from 16:00 to 19:00. Groups will be divided according to ages and levels, and each group will have its own trainer during their course. Time will be divided between play and instruction on clay courts and physical training and preparation. Wednesdays afternoons and Saturdays are reserved for excursions to Barcelona and other points of interest, culture, and fun.
The Mataró Tennis Club offers a dozen clay tennis courts, three paddle courts, and two squash courts, plus a swimming pool and gymnasium. Students will stay with local families (often club members), who will provide breakfast and dinner. Lunch (included in the price), will be at the restaurant of the Club Natació Mataró (“Mataró Swimming Club”). After enjoying an hour or two by the pool, students and monitors will driven by private bus to the tennis club, just five minutes away. After tennis lessons, students will be returned by private bus to the centre of Mataró.
Spanish classes will be daily, Monday through Friday from 9.00 to 12.00. Students will be tested upon their arrival and then divided into small groups according to their language skills and speaking level. Classes are taught by experienced and highly-qualified teachers according to the standards of the Instituto Cervantes.
